Chilly Cotswold Walk
by deerwood on Nov.30, 2008, under Travels
This morning, the wife and I had a walk atop Crickley Hill just outside Cheltenham. We left Gloucester in fair morning sunshine but when we arrived at Crickley Hill, we were surrounded by fog. Not only that but the ground was frosted.
It was not surprising that when we got out of the car, the air temperature was, let’s say, chilly. We changed shoes and set off into the mist. Normally, the view from Crickley presents you with quite nice views across Gloucestershire but not this morning!
Looking north was quite grey and white as the fog swirled slowly about the top of the hill. We were surprised to discover that what we thought was just a thick frost was, in fact, a thin dusting of snow.
The scenery was quite spectacular and made for some interesting photographs, though it was not always easy to hold the camera steady with freezing hands! Taking images of trees, branches and flowers covered in frost can be very interesting but also challenging.
